THE PLANT-HUMAN COMMUNICATION PROJECT
Restoring our intuitive sense of belonging within our natural ecosystems
Welcome to
the more than
human world.
The Plant-Human Communication Project is an (inter)activist effort bridging neuroscience, plant science, creative technology, and the arts. Supported by the Dutch Creative Industries Fund, our interdisciplinary team is working towards a multi-species understanding of communication, intelligence, and affection. We facilitate experiences of direct interspecies connection in hopes of reigniting urgently needed relationships of reciprocity between humans and the earth.
The project is engaged with bridging the gap between human and plant sentience, but also between scientific, artistic, and other ways of knowing. Serving as a globally accessible space for interdisciplinary exchange, this website invites listening to and interpretation of plant experience. We believe that placing art and science in conversation and collaboration will be key to social change: where no method is more simplistic than the other, but together they are simply more.

THE PLANT IS PRESENT
Our immersive installation series works to enable an experience of direct interspecies reciprocity via digital technology, electrical potentials from brain and phloem, and multisensory artistic media.
The Plant-Human Quarterly
Our literary magazine explores the myriad ways writers make manifest their relationship to the botanical world, approach what we perceive as other, and enter a plant’s-eye-view of the world.
The Plant-Human Open Mic
Our open source platform invites interpretations of both raw plant experience and the human relationship with nature, from the vantages of science, art, and other knowledge practices.
