Salvia Leucantha

I always extended a hand as I went by, needed to feel what it was

to brush against you. And for your part, you reached back,

purple fingers over the path. Soft, soft you dropped petals,

making your own bed. You were irresistible to me, where, mostly,

I am measured in my affections. I'm embarrassed to admit,

until now, I only knew your common name: Mexican Sage.

It never felt like enough. I wanted to know things about you

that just anyone on the street wouldn't know. I will tell you truthfully,

it hurt me that you let go of your blossoms so easily,

at anyone's touch.
