Marilyn McCabe
Artist Statement: Talking & Listening to Plants
A beast among beasts, a consciousness among a diversity of consciousness, I try to listen beyond language. Of course, being human, I am also helpless to the onset of words. So: poetry. These two poems came from my love of science, how we humans try to make sense of what's around us, how we love to name things, count things, and, at our best, create, and, at our worst, destroy.
Marilyn McCabe’s collections of poems include Being Many Seeds, Glass Factory, Perpetual Motion and Rugged Means of Grace. Video-poems have appeared in festivals/galleries. She talks about writing at www.owrite.marilynonaroll.wordpress.com and the podcast Whirled Through a Poem’s Eye.
