Plant-Human Quarterly

Talking & Listening to Plants

Issue No. 3 — Winter Solstice 2022

Welcome to Issue No. 3 of Plant-Human Quarterly! PHQ explores the myriad ways writers manifest their relationship to the botanical world, attempting to communicate across boundaries and possibly approach a plant’s-eye-view of the world. Published four times per year, on the solstices and equinoxes, PHQ’s poems and essays are paired with botanical images, merging verbal and visual mediums.

Please welcome PHQ’s newest members of the staff: multimedia artist, Candela Murillo, who designs the magazine — including the original images that accompany each poem — and editor-at-large, J.P. White, who helps select the poems and essays for the magazine.

PHQ is produced in collaboration with the Otherwise Collective, based in Amsterdam, NL. Together, we hope to transport people across the seemingly unbridgeable divide from the sentience of plants to humans.
