David Budbill

David Budbill (1940-2016) is the author of eight books of poems, seven plays, two novels, a collection of short stories, and dozens of essays. As the first person in his family to graduate from high school, David was keenly attuned to issues of social, racial, and economic justice. He performed his work in many venues—from schools and prisons in Vermont to performance spaces in New York City—often with William Parker and other musical collaborators. David’s play, Judevine, has been produced more than 65 times in 34 states. He lived in the mountains of Northern Vermont for almost 50 years.
