Plant-Human Quarterly

Talking & Listening to Plants

Issue No. 1 — Summer Solstice 2021

Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Plant-Human Quarterly! PHQ explores the myriad ways writers make manifest their relationship to the botanical world, attempting to communicate across boundaries and possibly approach a plant’s-eye-view of the world. Published four times per year, on the solstices and equinoxes, PHQ’s poems and essays are paired with botanical images, merging verbal and visual mediums. PHQ is produced in collaboration with the Otherwise Collective, based in Amsterdam, NL. Together, we hope to transport people across the seemingly unbridgeable divide from the sentience of plants to humans.
